A pesar de ser una zona alejada de los n\u00facleos urbanos y tur\u00edsticos, con apariencia de solitaria y poco intervenida, en El Jable podemos encontrar una gran cantidad de basura esparcida por los campos, vertidos incontrolados, pl\u00e1sticos y gran cantidad de latas y botellas a ambos lados de carreteras y caminos.<\/p>\n

A lo largo de los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, en cada una de nuestras salidas, lamentablemente siempre nos encontramos con basura, tanto reciente -como la gran mayor\u00eda de la latas y botellas de cerveza que se encuentran a lo largo de las pistas y no tan recientes, como algunos vertidos incontrolados de vidrios enterrados en jable, con botellas y envases de hace m\u00e1s de 50 a\u00f1os. Como nosotros no podemos dejar de retirar esta basura, en todas las salidas siempre le dedicamos un tiempo a la limpieza de esta BASURALEZA.<\/p>\n

Mientras recolect\u00e1bamos estas botellas y latas, nos hemos ido encontrado con peque\u00f1os animales en su interior que se quedan atrapados e incluso muchas veces mueren. Lagartijas, perenquenes, musara\u00f1as, caracoles terrestres (Chuchangas) e\u00a0 insectos, en algunas ocasiones no pueden resistir el dulzor del l\u00edquido remanente en estos envases, otras veces solo buscan un refugio de las condiciones externas.<\/p>\n

Mientras limpiamos y recolectamos la basura esparcida en El Jable, nos hemos dado de cuenta que hab\u00edan animales vivos dentro de algunos de los envases, y en otros casos estos animales estaban muertos. Tambi\u00e9n observamos que una gran cantidad de las latas recolectadas presentaban un agujero. Nos ha tomado un cierto tiempo el poder definir el origen de este hueco, y al final hemos descubierto que son los cuervos que han encontrado una excelente oportunidad de conseguir comida. Hemos podido observar como los cuervos al pillar una lata en el suelo, vuelan hasta la lata, realizan su peculiar baile y al acercarse a la lata la mueven con el pico y luego proceden a abrirla para capturar el animal atrapado en el interior, vivo o muerto. Hemos podido observar que hasta pueden volar con la lata en su pico.<\/p>\n

La Asociaci\u00f3n ha decidido poner en marcha el denominado PROYECTO EN LATA, en donde se ha dividido el \u00e1rea de El Jable en m\u00faltiples cuadr\u00edculas de 1.000 x 1.000 metros. Y se ha empezado la limpieza met\u00f3dica y sistem\u00e1tica de cada una de estas cuadr\u00edculas. Una vez finalizada una, avanzamos hacia la siguiente, y as\u00ed de forma ordenada se ir\u00e1n limpiando cada una de las cuadr\u00edculas, abarcando la totalidad del \u00e1rea.<\/p>\n

Durante la actividad se recoge cualquier tipo de basura, pero s\u00f3lo se registran los datos referentes a las latas y botellas. Para ello, utilizamos una aplicaci\u00f3n de georreferenciaci\u00f3n para registrar los datos del proyecto. En los datos que recolectamos anotamos la localizaci\u00f3n, si se trata de una lata o una botella, la marca comercial de la bebida, si hay o no animales dentro de los envases (vivos o muertos), y si presenta el agujero hecho por los cuervos. Adem\u00e1s, tomamos una fotograf\u00eda, y el nombre del voluntario que ha hecho la recogida de los envases y de los datos. Si hay alg\u00fan animal vivo, procedemos a su liberaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Con este proyecto podemos aprender muchas cosas, como por ejemplo c\u00f3mo puede influir la basura que se tira en El Jable en la mortalidad de algunos animales peque\u00f1os o c\u00f3mo el cuervo cambia su conducta para conseguir la lata con alimento en su interior. Dentro de latas y botellas hemos encontrado muchos insectos muertos, la mayor\u00eda de ellos son de h\u00e1bitos nocturnos. Pero al igual que ocurre con muchas otras especies animales que habitan en El Jable, de estos insectos se sabe bien poco.<\/p>\n

En estos momentos dentro del marco de colaboraci\u00f3n entre la Asociaci\u00f3n Viento del Noreste y la Universidad de Chester de Reino Unido, una estudiante de m\u00e1ster en Conservaci\u00f3n Medioambiental est\u00e1 llevando a cabo una investigaci\u00f3n relacionada con el impacto sobre la conducta animal que genera la basura y otros desechos que son arrojados en El Jable. Y leer m\u00e1s<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
