Cuando el grupo de voluntarios que constituimos la Asociaci\u00f3n Medioambiental Viento del Noreste comenzamos a reunirnos hace cinco a\u00f1os en El Jable, lo hicimos como un grupo de aficionados a las aves interesados simplemente en observarlas. Pero enseguida nos dimos cuenta de que aparte de poder ser testigos de la existencia de una vida salvaje incre\u00edble, tambi\u00e9n nos encontramos con una gran cantidad de amenazas crecientes hacia el medio ambiente de este \u00e1rea semides\u00e9rtica. Conscientes de que la simple queja entre nosotros no era suficiente, decidimos evidenciar todo lo que ve\u00edamos, y comenzamos a realizar una base de datos, tanto de las cosas positivas como de las negativas.<\/p>\n

Para ello, contactamos con el profesor Xavier Font de la Universidad de Barcelona, quien hab\u00eda desarrollado una aplicaci\u00f3n para la geolocalizaci\u00f3n de datos biol\u00f3gicos de campo, llamada Zamiadroid.\u00a0 El profesor Font acept\u00f3 nuestra invitaci\u00f3n para venir a Lanzarote a conocer la isla y ofrecernos unas clases de introducci\u00f3n sobre el uso de la aplicaci\u00f3n, que nos permiti\u00f3 ir registrando las aves que observ\u00e1bamos en cada salida de campo. El avistamiento y conteo de aves sigue siendo la actividad favorita entre los voluntarios de la asociaci\u00f3n. Disfrutamos mucho el poder observar el comportamiento de\u00a0 la vida salvaje en su h\u00e1bitat natural. El conteo de aves que realizamos no se puede considerar como un censo, es tan s\u00f3lo un registro de la vida salvaje que observamos en El Jable y algunos comportamientos.<\/p>\n
Por ejemplo, una de las cosas que hemos aprendido a lo largo de estos a\u00f1os, es que las aves est\u00e1n acostumbradas a ver coches pasando por las carreteras, y no se asustan con facilidad. Sin embargo,\u00a0 se estresan m\u00e1s cuando hay personas caminando, paseando animales o en bicicletas. Por esta raz\u00f3n, para el avistamiento y conteo de aves utilizamos el coche como un escondite, recorriendo las pistas a poca velocidad. Incluso, entre varios de nuestros voluntarios se tiene la idea de que las aves ya reconocen nuestros coches y no se asustan, y con frecuencia las observamos a solo pocos metros del coche.<\/p>\n

Una gran parte de las especies de plantas que encontramos en El Jable son end\u00e9micas de las Islas Canarias, pero adem\u00e1s tambi\u00e9n tenemos algunos endemismos que s\u00f3lo se desarrollan en jable de las islas orientales, como lo es el Colchicum psammophilum<\/strong>\u00a0 (ajillo de gato).<\/p>\n Para poder identificar adecuadamente las diferentes especies de plantas, la asociaci\u00f3n ha organizado varios talleres y charlas, las cuales nos han acercado a otros de nuestros mentores cient\u00edficos, como lo son los ingenieros agr\u00f3nomos Marta Pe\u00f1a y Jaime Gil, que recientemente han publicado\u00a0 la Gu\u00eda visual de la flora vascular de la Reserva de la Biosfera de Lanzarote<\/em>, gu\u00eda que nunca dejamos de llevarnos al campo. Un h\u00e1bitat donde el periodo de lluvias es bastante corto, y la mayor\u00eda del a\u00f1o tiene una apariencia de puro desierto, es incre\u00edble ver como en cuanto caen las primeras gotas de lluvia aparecen flores por todas partes.<\/p>\n En uno de los talleres que hemos realizado sobre plantas, pudimos identificar en s\u00f3lo un metro cuadrado de suelo unas 36 especies de plantas diferentes, lo cual pone de manifiesto la rica biodiversidad que existe en este h\u00e1bitat y en toda la isla de Lanzarote.<\/p>\n Una de nuestras actividades en las salidas de campo es el seguimiento fenol\u00f3gico de las plantas, con el objetivo de observar su comportamiento ante el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image
